Our mission is simple: to serve delicious, affordable Korean comfort food in a fun and welcoming space where everyone feels at home.

Our Australian journey began in 2019. Our founder, an international student in Australia, missed the vibrant late-night street food of Korea — the comforting flavors that reminded him of home.
With no authentic Korean taste nearby, he started cooking Topokki (spicy rice cakes) for his family and friends in his own kitchen. But soon he realized that topokki alone wasn't enough. As K-dramas and K-music were capturing global attention, K-food was also becoming a rising wave — and he wanted to be part of it.
He began searching for a brand that could grow alongside the booming Korean fried chicken culture — and that's when he discovered “Guljak.”
The word “Guljak” (걸작) in Korean means “a masterpiece” — a work that stands out for its creativity, craftsmanship, and perfection. It represents what we strive to create every day: food that's made with care, passion, and originality.
In 2020, Guljak opened its first location in the heart of Melbourne CBD, bringing the taste of authentic Korean street food to local communities.
